Alexis Moran
Born in Berkeley California in 1979, Alexis Moran is a fourth generation Bay Area native with an eclectic artistic lineage. Her great grandfather and uncle were responsible for monumental art-glass installations in San Francisco’s City Hall, Olympic Club, Neiman Marcus, and Palace Hotel Garden Court that remain as spectacular today as when they were first installed in the early 1900s. Growing up with her parents, a video effects designer, and a highly regarded professional chef, Alexis attended public schools in the East Bay.
Bongo Bench
The Bongo Bench is the keystone of Alexis’ playground furniture series. Inspired by the Bongo Board, a balance training board for surfers and skiers popular in the 1960’s, its solid wood bench-top sways side-to-side on elliptical concrete bases to provide a surprisingly entertaining seating experience.
