Concreteworks collaborated with Michelle Wempe of Zumaooh for this custom project. Michelle approached us with the idea of a sculptural screen element based on an African symbol for peace to divide the more private and public areas of the house. The screen was inspired by the works of Erwin Hauer, who is known for his architectural screens and walls in the 1950's.
With the use of three-dimensional printing technology Concreteworks transformed the original design into a mold to be cast into the pieces that weave together throughout the screen. With this technology to model and mill concrete into three-dimensional architectural features, Concreteworks formed the Flash screen.
